A major collective reflection process, which took place from Fall 2020 to March 2022, led to the development of a shared vision and design for the Nourishing Neighborhood of Chomedey.

Thanks to the mobilization of local residents, community organizations, and engaged partners, this process made it possible to clearly define what the project would bring to Chomedey.

​

The benefits of the Nourishing Neighborhood are numerous and aim to achieve several objectives:

​

• Strengthen food security by providing local residents with easier access to healthy, free food in exchange for community involvement;

• Encourage civic engagement and collective well-being, while cultivating a strong sense of belonging;

• Revitalize the neighborhood by integrating a green space — a real breath of fresh air in an urban setting;

• Combat poverty by becoming a central hub for awareness-building and actions promoting greater social and environmental justice.

The Nourishing Neighborhood project is made possible thanks to financial support from the City of Laval and the Government of Québec through the Sectoral Agreement to Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion for the Laval Region 2019–2022.

The project also received support from the Fonds d'initiative et de rayonnement de la métropole, administered by the Secrétariat à la région métropolitaine of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
